The amount of art lying around my workspace was starting to build up, so today I made a trip to Tandem Brick Gallery in Des Moines and Gallery 319 in Ames to unload, so to speak. For those of you in the Des Moines area: if you get a chance stop by Tandem Brick; say hi to Kathie, Josh, and Dave; and check out my work--and the work of many other terrific artists. "Truth Seeker," "A Special Bond," "Knock, Knock," "Killer Bee," and "Surrender" (pics on my Assemblages and Collage/Paintings pages) are now hanging out at Tandem Brick.
Gallery 319 in downtown Ames is now home to these (again, see pics on my Assemblage page) pieces: "Mind Your Uncle," "Skin Deep Royalty," "Cult(ure) of Make Believe," "United States of Automatons," "Abby Normal," "Wither," and "Irregular." For you Ames-area art fans, please stop in at Gallery 319, check out the work of dozens of fantastic local and regional artists, and hopefully take something home with you. While you're there, be sure to say hi to Mike and Laura. I'm so appreciative of Mike; he's the first gallery owner to take a chance on my art.
Last night I took some of my art (both mixed-media/box-type stuff and gourd masks) to JB Knacker here in Gilbert for "Ghoul's Night Out," a Halloween-themed event. Brenda, the shop's proprietor, and all her help did a super job putting the event together. Many thanks to Brenda, her crew at JB Knacker, and all the wonderful customers I had a chance to speak with last night.
The (sometimes mad) ramblings of a mixed media artist.
