In my quest to find a usable image transfer method for collage, I ran across the following video (watch all three parts), which is now my stand-by method. Above are a couple of pics of some heart images that I created using the method. I'm envisioning a lot of possibilities using this method in my collage work; for example, I could see creating a transfer of a photo of a loved-one, which could then be layered over some sort of meaningful bottom layer.
Below the video I've included a couple of pics, showing how these transfers can be layered atop other images (in these cases, maps).
In a nut-shell it's this: 1, brush a fairly thick layer of soft gloss gel onto glass; 2, place an image into the gel and allow it to dry; 3, wet and rub away the paper, leaving just an image embedded in the gel; 4, brush on a few more layers of gel (allowing dry time between); and 5, peel the image (shown in my pic) off the glass.
The (sometimes mad) ramblings of a mixed media artist.
